Faculty and staff emphasize high standards, availability to students, and promote intellectual and personal growth. In 2015 the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings rated CCC among the top 20 community colleges to have the best return on investment for students. A talented and committed Regional Board of Trustees consisting of 14 members, including one student, represents the three counties in the College's service area – Steuben, Chemung, and Schuyler.
Corning Community College is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive environment by fostering a culture that values individuals' unique characteristics and provides enriching opportunities for students and employees to learn from one another.
CCC has a Diversity Council which strives to elevate diversity and inclusiveness throughout the organization with the purpose to promote and support campus-wide diversity awareness, plan and implement diversity activities, recommend and promote policies, programs and other initiatives that will attract and retain a diverse mix of faculty, staff, and students and examine formal and informal processes and recommend changes that foster greater inclusion.
CCC also has a vibrant Center for Diversity and Inclusion which opened in February of 2013. The Center provides a safe space for all members of our campus community and is used for educational, curricular, and social programs and as a meeting place for student affinity groups. Most recently, the Center has hosted a series of workshops entitled, Facing Racism in a Diverse Nation.
EnvironmentBack to Top
CCC has a beautiful 550-acre campus with eight buildings plus a planetarium, an observatory, and an adjacent nature center on Spencer Hill near the city of Corning. The College also operates additional centers and a variety of off-campus sites throughout the three counties, including Airport Corporate Park in Horseheads and an Academic and Workforce Development Center in Elmira.
The region includes the world headquarters of Corning, Inc., a Fortune 500 company, several other local and international businesses, and a “can do” business climate through various economic development initiatives. Tourism is important in that the Finger Lakes Region is the third largest tourist destination in New York. There are minor league baseball and hockey teams along with the international speedway at Watkins Glen. Wineries dot the shorelines of the Finger Lakes with tours, tasting rooms, and walking trails available at many of them. Fishing, boating, swimming, biking, hiking, golfing, skiing, and sightseeing opportunities are extensive.
