Position summary: MICA seeks an organized and student-oriented coordinator of student success. The coordinator provides support with communication and programming logistics for the graduate student success team. Essential functions of this position include scheduled communication via email and Canvas, answering student requests for information, coordinating several co-curricular event series.
General purpose:Â The student success coordinator works to ensure clear and regular communication with students as well as consistent events.Â
Position responsibilities:Â
Open Studies serves a diverse student body of traditional and non-traditional college students, art and design professionals, lifelong learners, teens, and children. In addition to studio-based art and design classes for adults, teens, and children, and programs in support of the collegeâs diversity and internationalization goals, this unit administers four unique professional graduate programs in the Business of Art and Design, Data Analytics and Visualization, UX Design, and Design Leadership, which are the focus of this position. The student success coordinator will work with the graduate population in the MA/MBA and MPS programs on:Â Â
Communication and Information
Maintain and update Canvas pages for Orientation and Industry Immersives, each occurring 3x per year
Send regularly scheduled information regarding graduation (diplomas, degree conferral, end of account access, and Commencement), Industry Immersive, and Orientation. Each occurs 3x per year.
Respond to student questions and requests for information in a timely manner. As needed, provide coverage for a shared inbox
Contingent on record of reliable and regular scheduled communication and problem-solving skills, perform follow-up outreach to faculty and students involved in Incomplete Contracts, including checking in with the student 2 weeks prior to the deadline regarding progress, with student and faculty on the deadline regarding assignment submission, and with the faculty 1 week after the deadline regarding grade submission. Connect student or faculty with the ed tech team in case of Canvas issues, and liaise between the faculty and the Enrollment Services team to have the final grade updated.Â
Programming CoordinationÂ
Speaker Series, in collaboration with faculty Subject Matter Experts: coordinate different speaker series for each graduate program. Schedule the speaker, make the Zoom work request, send communications and calendar invites to students and speakers, facilitate the invoicing and payment process. Send follow-up communication.
Alumni Career Panels, in collaboration with the student graduate program assistants: schedule alumni panels, secure panelists, coordinate logistics, submit Zoom work requests, send communications, calendar invites, and follow up emails. Facilitate invoicing and payment process.Â
Commencement Celebration Events: schedule and plan one Commencement celebration per year. Includes reserving space, sending invitations, ordering catering and beverages, coordinating with Events, Facilities Management, and Campus Safety, choosing and ordering swag within defined budget. Receive and submit invoices. If possible, staff the event in person.
Unconference Days: schedule and plan two Professional Studies Unconferences per yearâ one in early fall and one in early spring. Includes reserving event space and classrooms, sending event announcements across multiple channels and managing registration, hiring networking workshop leader and photographer, ordering catering and beverages, coordinating with Events, Facilities Management, and Campus Safety, choosing and ordering swag within defined budget, answering inquiries, and sending calendar invites as well as communication with students and other staff at every stage of planning. If possible, staff the event in person.

Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma
Experience with student/customer support services
