Requirements

The Clinical Research Coordinator II (CRC II) is responsible for independently managing and coordinating seven neuromuscular clinical trials-out of a department portfolio of approximately 55 Phase I-IV studies-within the Department of Neurology at Georgetown University Hospital. This role demands strong technical knowledge, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic clinical research environment. This is a fully on-site position, five days per week, based at Georgetown University Hospital. The CRC II is the sole coordinator dedicated exclusively to neuromuscular trials, offering specialized insight and continuity of care in these disease states.

The CRC II must master the schedule of assessments for each assigned protocol and take full ownership of visit coordination. This includes comprehensive pre-visit planning, day-of visit execution, and post-visit documentation. The CRC II conducts patient visits in accordance with protocol guidelines, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and institutional standards, and providing high-quality care with a deep understanding of both the protocol and the patient's clinical needs. This role requires proficiency in coordinating with ancillary departments such as Radiology, the Clinical Research Unit (CRU), Cardiology, and the Research Pharmacy. The CRC II is expected to safeguard patient confidentiality and follow all university, institutional, and federal guidelines related to clinical research. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee regulatory document maintenance and IRB submission.
  
• Manage the timely and accurate data entry and adverse event reporting in OnCore/CTMS.
  
• Coordinate, study, and monitor visits and sponsor communications.
  
• Oversee compliance with training and certification requirements (e.g., CITI, HIPAA, IATA).
  

Work Interactions
As a member of the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) research community, the CRC II supports the University's mission of cura personalis-care for the whole person. Clinical trials provide
patients with a level of personalized, multidisciplinary care that often exceeds standard treatment pathways. In this capacity, the CRC II serves as the primary point of contact for participants and is required to respond to all patient inquiries within 24 hours. Regular and proactive communication is essential, as timely reporting of adverse events-regardless of severity-is mandated by FDA regulations. The CRC II plays a vital operational and financial role. Indirect costs generated by clinical trials contribute to the broader operating budget of GUMC. Without an experienced CRC II, the department risks losing access to key studies, which would impact institutional revenue and patient access to cutting-edge therapies.
The CRC II interacts regularly with multiple departments, including CROO, CRU, Radiology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, and the Research Pharmacy, and contributes to the smooth operation of research initiatives across the medical center. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Trials, the CRC II is an integral part of a collaborative team that includes five other CRC II's, the Director of Clinical Trials, and up to four student staff. In addition to their direct supervisor, the CRC II liaises with Principal Investigators (PIs), sub-investigators, and study sponsors to fulfill project-specific deliverables. Daily responsibilities involve patient-facing coordination; Responding to patient questions and concerns, scheduling and confirming visits, triaging clinical issues and adverse events, and liaising with investigators and support staff, ensuring visit logistics are aligned with protocol timelines and staff availability.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required (exceptions made for Associate's degree holders with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator or Assistant)
  
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a clinical setting involving direct patient contact (full-time, part-time, or substantial volunteer experience)
  
• At least 2 years of experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator or similar role preferred
  
• Experience working with Neurology patients, particularly in Multiple Sclerosis and Neuromuscular clinics, is strongly preferred
  
• Familiarity with human subjects research, social work, nursing, EMT, or research operations (e.g.,CROO or CRU) may also qualify
  

Required Skills and Certifications

• CITI Group 1 Biomedical certification
  
• HIPAA and IATA training
  
• Phlebotomy experience and ability to handle and process human biological specimens
  
• Competency in accessing and interpreting medical records
  
• Experience with vital signs, EKGs, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and obtaining medical histories
  
• Strong regulatory knowledge and experience with IRB submissions
  
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and motivated
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
  
• Commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and team collaboration

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
