Core Responsibilities:

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Provides lectures in multiple DNAP courses and teaches in the simulation and cadaver labs. These lectures and labs are assigned in the semester planning meetings by the Program Director with input from the course coordinators and the DNAP faculty team.
• Provides test bank questions related to lecture material for both oral and written examinations.
• Serve as course coordinator of various DNAP courses as assigned by Program Director (usually 1-2 courses per semester).Coordinate the course schedule and develop/manage the Canvas course site; Prepare and administer all course examinations after verification that all lecturers have updated question banks; Notifies the Program Director and Assistant Program Director with any student academic concerns in a timely manner; Issues mid-semester advisories for students achieving less than an 80% in course work; Grades oral exams each semester for each DNAP course as scheduled by the course coordinator; Holds regular office hours; Document all tutoring activities (including exam reviews, office hours, and review sessions) on the tutor log in Box.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Participates in activities directed at maintaining program accreditation under the direction of the Program Director; Follow all University & SON' and program policies/guidelines -follows established standards.
• Meetings and Events; Attends SON, DNAP and committee meetings; Participates in all DNAP student, program, and recruitment events (e.g. open houses, graduation activities, etc.); Participates in student interviews and admissions selection committee meetings; Attends the AANA's Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators and/or Annual Congress yearly as the DNAP budget permits.
• Scholarly activities; Publishes a minimum of one peer-reviewed manuscript each year; Mentors DNAP Scholarly Projects as first or second reader as assigned by the Program and Research Directors.

Qualifications:

Education:

1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; earned baccalaureate degree in nursing.

2. Graduate of an accredited program of nurse anesthesia.

3. Holds a minimum of a doctorate degree.

4. Has a minimum of two years of experience as a nurse anesthetist.

5. Has current and appropriate preparation in administration, instruction; and the educational process.

Expertise:

1. Maintains current and valid District of Columbia licensure as a professional registered nurse and nurse anesthetist.

2. Meets requirements and maintains recertification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists

3. Demonstrates ability to instruct and provide students with knowledge of principles and theory of anesthesia, equipment and techniques.

4. Remains current in theories and methods of instruction by:

• Current membership in the AANA;
• Review of current anesthesia literature;
• Attendance at state, local and national meetings;
• Maintaining professional clinical privileges and practice of anesthesia

The projected salary pay range for this position is $155,000-$165,440, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
