| Department: | Sherman STEM Teacher Scholars Program The Sherman Teacher Scholars Program was established in 2006 to recruit and prepare predominantly Science, Technology, Engineering and Math majors pursuing teacher certification for urban and diverse classrooms and to improve retention of those teachers in those schools.The Sherman Teacher Scholars Program supports scholars to become culturally responsive and compassionate educators through collaborations with UMBC faculty and local schools. The program promotes student achievement and engagement, particularly in STEM disciplines, by facilitating authentic learning experiences for scholars. Academic and professional coaching are provided to help scholars become high-quality teachers for urban schools. |

| Position Overview: | The Program Coordinator will lead teacher candidate coordination, communication, and planning. They will maintain records related to engagement, assessment, and communication details such as mentor information and job placement. This position will be essential in transitioning our Sherman Scholars into the classroom. |
