Internal Number: R455 Job Description: The Assistant Director of Career Development – STEM Lead assists the Director of Career and Professional Development in executing the Office’s strategic plan through advising students and alumni, facilitating recruitment opportunities, developing content for and facilitating events, programs and career trips, and other projects and initiatives as assigned. Other projects may include, but are not limited to, CPD data collection, analysis and reporting, support in maintaining CPD career resources and website, and alumni volunteer engagement and management. The Assistant Director will also serve as a liaison or work closely with key internal partners (e.g., Office of Alumni Engagement, University Advancement, faculty and staff) and external partners (e.g., recruiters, alumni) to create a culture of collaboration among a variety of stakeholders across the University. He/she/they will advise students and alumni in the areas of professional development, help develop and execute career-related programs designed to enhance their knowledge of career fields, and establish links between students and employers, alumni and professionals. Essential Functions:
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm with occasional evening hours required. Minimum Qualifications: One to three years of progressively strategic full-time experience in college/university career services with experience and expertise including: working with students throughout career process from indecision/exploration through job acquisition, knowledge of career fields relevant to liberal arts graduates and alumni. In the absence of higher education experience, a combination of education and relevant experience providing a similar background and capabilities will be considered. Academic or professional experience in a STEM field preferred. This position requires the incumbent to portray a high energy level and be an active and successful team member. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills having a demonstrated ability to follow through. The independent nature of this role requires the incumbent to take initiative and possess a strong attention to detail. Working Conditions: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Types of Work: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Position Type: Exempt, Full Time, Benefit Eligible Minimum Pay: $52,505.00 - Pay Commensurate with Experience The university requires employees to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and new employees must provide proof of at least their first shot prior to the first day of employment. Boosters are required. Individuals may seek a medical or a religious exemption to the vaccination requirement.
