The Center for American Indian Health (CAIH) is located administratively within International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The core activities housed at CAIH include research studies of infectious diseases and behavioral health, and a training program.
CAIH at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator who is a motivated individual interested in working on research projects. This work is focused on participant recruitment, enrollment, retention, participant follow-up, data collection, and cross-site communication to improve health outcomes in Native communities. The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will assume primary day-to-day coordination responsibilities for behavioral and mental health programs.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates multiple complex studies, serving as a primary liaison for day-to-day implementation and evaulation activities.
May assist the principal investigator and/or program manager in defining information and plans required to accomplish goals of studies and provides input into study design and implementation.
Function as a primary liaison between the program team and tribal programs who are invested in improving health outcomes for their communities.
Maintains good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements, and adheres to all protocol and regulatory requirements to ensure the validity of the research data.
Verifies patient eligibility for studies with protocol requirements.
Maintains confidential records of required source documentation on each program participant.
Coordinates the collection, entering and compilation of data.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data for use in presentations and publications.
Meets regularly with Principal Investigator and other study team members to review data accuracy and overall study progress
Participates in all other meetings.
Develops and maintains a system for tracking patient activity, gift card logs and data analysis as needed.
Participates in internal audits and assists the the Principal Investigator in preparing for program evaluation.
Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline.
3 years related experience.
Additional related education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula:18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Experience with related program coordination including implementation and evaluation.
Experience in a health and/or education program setting.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be comfortable completing invasive procedures. including specimen collection (nasal, saliva, urine, blood) and other samples from participants.
Proficiency in the use of computers, including software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Independent and self-motivated.
Highly organized and detail oriented.
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and within a variety of cultures.
Strong organizational skills and experience with report writing and giving presentations is a strong plus.
Ability to handle multiple tasks is essential.
Specific Physical Requirements:
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials and pharmacological agents.
Standing and or walking for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform research study procedures.
Current driver's license issued by the state of residence and good driving record required.
Ability to travel with overnight stays required as needed. Some evening, weekend and holiday work will be required.
This position will maintain background clearance as required by the employer and any collaborating agencies.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
