General summary/purpose: The North American AIDS Cohort Collaboration on Research and Design (NA-ACCORD) is seeking a Research Assistant to work under the direct supervision of Senior Research Program Manager to assist in the day-to-day logistical and operational tasks for various research studies in the NA-ACCORD.
The Research Assistant will interact with the investigators, collaborators, and patients in a research environment. This person will be writing study communications and data collection tools to systematically coordinate information from NA-ACCORD contributing cohorts and write reports. This person will also assist in carrying out research in accordance with good clinical practices in such activities as obtaining informed consent, data and specimen collection, and patient follow-up over time.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
Construct, pilot, and administer cohort-level data collection tools to systematically gain an understanding of data collected by cohorts via the electronic health record systems.
Investigate cohort needs for tools to measure constructs of interest, such as cognitive impairment or social determinants of health
Understand resources needed for additional data collection of constructs of interest
Prepare reports of findings.
Assist with data collection within the Bartlett Infectious Diseases clinic.
Meet regularly with Sr. Research Program Manager and/or team leader to review progress and reports.
Conduct literature searches to support the manager and the PI.
Interact with clinicians and other gatekeepers to access the patient population.
Recruit research participants. Verify patient eligibility for studies. Interview patients. Schedule follow-up visits.
Maintain paper and computerized research files.
Assist in preparation of IRB protocols and related documents.
Participate in weekly research group meetings; schedule meetings; create agendas; complete minutes.
Perform miscellaneous-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and some related work experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
