Research Associate-Fixed Term
Position Summary Bile acids are vital to the digestion of our food, act as signaling molecules throughout our bodies and shape the structure of our microbiome. Recently, our collaborative group discovered a new set of bile acids made by the microbiome called ‘microbially conjugated bile acids’. This discovery was published in the prestigious journal Nature last year https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-020-2047-9. The Quinn Lab at Michigan State University (www.robertquinnlab.com) is undergoing a collaborative project with the laboratory of Dr. Laura McCabe and Dr. Robert Hausinger to study these exciting new microbial molecules and their role in the mammalian GI tract.
