General purpose: To provide procurement support, maintenance shop support and Technician support services to the Facilities Management staff.
Major role functions:
Serve as the primary point of contact for facilities repair parts, equipment, and materials procurement.
Purchase goods for Facilities Technicians that meet the quantity and quality expectations.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts with vendors for facilities parts, equipment and materials.
Track inventory and restock goods as needed.
Stay up to date on industry trends and new products.
Provide materials training on new products being introduced to Facilities Management staff.
Compare available goods with industry trends to determine appropriate pricing.
Manage the usage and maintenance of Facilities Management vehicles.
Assist in managing the MICA warehouse inventory for the campus.
Accept requests for warehouse stocked or stored items telephonically or electronically and pull and distribute requested items to the appropriate department or building;
Research data for needed parts, tools, and equipment for Maintenance Technicians; check inventory for parts availability; when necessary, order and pickup needed maintenance supplies, materials, tools, and equipment; research to find the best value for parts, etc.; purchase Facilities parts and supplies from various vendors in the Baltimore area; establish contacts and maintain good, professional working relationships with vendors and contractors.Â Assist in establishing and implementing an inventory control policy;
Establish and maintain a clean, organized current inventory of all Facilities parts, tool, and supplies in multiple locations in several buildings throughout campus;
Assist in maintaining the MICA warehouse in a neat, organized, and orderly fashion; Maintain security for all inventory store in all locations; Maintain an inventory data base; bar code all inventoried items and establish automatic re-order levels;
Manage vehicle usage - help maintain vehicle usage logs and schedules, and maintain records of vehicle maintenance; schedule vehicle maintenance and repairs and ensure that operators are properly licensed;
Performs other assignments and works as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of all of the building trades, including project planning/estimating.
Vendor contract and price negotiations experience.
Ability to manage and organize an inventory.
Ability to work independently and excel in new responsibilities.
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of inventory control and procurement experience with large organizations, including work with inventory databases and warehouse management experience.
At least one year of hands-on experience in one of the building trades.
A working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations (i.e., OSHA, EPA, Health and Safety, etc.).
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software, and inventory management software.
Maryland or other Driverâs License with clean driving record.
Valued but not required qualifications:
2 years of formal training in inventory control and procurement methods and processes.
Workday information flow experience.
Knowledge of E-maint or other industry standard maintenance database management software experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and contracting for large organizations.
3 years of hands-on work in the building trades or facilities management.
Business management training and/or experience.
Motor pool management experience.
Reporting to this position:Â There are no direct reports to this position. Â The incumbent will occasionally be assigned to supervise one or more individuals to assist with specific tasks.
