The Memorial Church is a multi-denominational church situated in the center of Harvard Yard. We seek to educate minds, expand hearts and enrich lives within the Harvard community. Our worship includes weekly Sunday services, monthly Compline services, and a daily service of Morning Prayers. Our Christian education programming includes Church School, Faith and Life Forum, Grants Committee, and reading groups. Our congregation is diverse and composed of students from Harvard College and throughout the University; members of the faculty, administration, and staff; neighbors; alumni; and friends. Reporting to the Pusey Minister, the Assistant Minister will tend to pastoral, educational, and administrative aspects of our congregational life. This person will be responsible for directing our Church School program and playing an integral role in our worship life and other faith formation programs. We are seeking a gifted and creative clergyperson who will share in our ministry and serve our community with enthusiasm and devotion. We hope this person will bring particular gifts and leadership to nurture the growth of our Christian education programs and deepen our spiritual development as a faith community. Oversees curricular development and planning for varying components of the Christian education program, which includes the Church School, Confirmation Class, Teen Program, and Faith and Life Forum.
Responsible for the Church School program and its staff, including the recruitment, training, and supervision of undergraduate Church School teachers.
Works with Pusey Minister to facilitate Church School family engagement in the life of the Church via both educational and social events each term.
Works closely with the clergy, Seminarians, and Student Deacons to tend to the spiritual life of Harvard students and community members.
Teaches individual and group classes as needed, including the Confirmation Class.
Serves as liaison to the Grants Committee.
Presides at Morning Prayers, Sunday Services, Compline, and other worship services.
Delivers Sunday Service sermons 1-2 times per term as necessary.
Writes liturgy for worship services.
Works with Pusey Minister, Associate Minister, and Gund University Choirmaster toward planning and implementing services special to both the liturgical calendar and the University such as Holy Week, ARTS FIRST, and Commencement.
Issues invitations and schedules speakers for Morning Prayers.
Fields inquiries about baptisms, weddings, and memorial services and assigns officiants for services.
Creates and produces the worship bulletins for Sunday Services and Morning Prayers.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:
Five or more years of related experience. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.
Ordained or pursuing an ordination track required.
College degree strongly preferred, or an equivalent of education plus relevant business experience.
Seminary or theological training, such as MA in Religious Studies, MTS, or MDiv, preferred.
Familiarity with Christian ministry and previous experience with Christian education, spiritual formation, and pastoral care required.
Project management experience preferred.
An interest in working with diverse, talented, and highly motivated students, as well as a commitment to holistic student well-being. Supervision experience preferred.
Possesses good judgment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to take initiative. Flexibility, organization, and a positive attitude are also preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs. Prior experience with Harvard technology and systems a plus.
