The academic research laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Van Eyk within the Advanced Clinical Biosystems Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a talented and motivated wet bench proteomic technician (Research Associate I) to join our team of scientist researchers, clinicians, bioinformaticians, mass spectrometrists and proteomics experts. Proteomics is the study of all proteins in the cell and how they change with disease in heart disease and precision health. As a technician, you will work with senior staff and research scientists to assist in cutting-edge proteomics within our dynamic research program that blends high end technology and projects with clear clinical relevance pertaining to cellular and molecular in various cardiac disease and precision medicine. As a member of our team you will assist in the development, execution, and analysis of research projects.
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
To perform routine protein biochemistry techniques such as western blots, protein extraction and sample preparation, and some cell culture.
Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures.
Keeps accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results.
Plans, designs, and conducts technical, but not complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor.
Analyzes and evaluates research data utilizing computational skills and provides interpretations requiring significant knowledge of a specialized area of research. Searches literature, utilizing all available resources including electronic, regarding new methodology and designs experiments accordingly.
To professionally communicate both verbally and in writing to maintain sound scientific communications with colleagues on and off-campus.
Willingness to learn new skills and laboratory techniques.
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree is required
Preferably in biological sciences or chemistry
Understanding of general research objectives.
Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
Understanding of general research objectives.
Familiar with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word.
Experience in wet laboratory research and basic research; skills in data management and analyses.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.
Ability to work independently. Knowledge of budgetary requirements and policies.
