The Director of the LAUNCH Network collaborates closely with other professionals across the College to implement a new initiative - the LAUNCH Network - that will foster an inclusive and supportive environment for students and provide them with the tools and assistance they need to be successful in college and beyond. Initially, the program will target First Generation and low-income students; the Director will be a part of evolving conversations to determine those students who will most benefit from this initiative.
LAUNCH includes a two-week summer program that introduces new students to all aspects of (curricular and co-curricular) college life, provides them with academic skill-building opportunities, particularly in the areas of writing and math, and creates a sense of belonging through the creation of cohorts. The Director will coordinate, implement, and evaluate the SummerLAUNCH program and will help to build a 4-year program that provides LAUNCH participants with scaffolded experiences and ongoing support and mentorship throughout their academic career at Goucher.
The Director will serve as a primary contact for students connecting them with campus resources and providing programming and advising on a wide range of topics including: the transition to college, academics, financial matters, and post-graduation preparation.
3 years full-time experience demonstrated success in developing programs and services that promote student success and support for students from historically underrepresented populations in a higher education setting
Must understand of issues facing contemporary higher education, specifically with regard to access; retention; and diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to apply student development, identity development, intersectionality, and/or social justice frameworks to programs, trainings, and interactions with the Goucher community
Demonstrate skill in project management, including data gathering and analysis, presentation skills, strategic project planning, and project implementation
Experience supervising or advising students or other staff
Proficient with the Microsoft Office
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Master's degree, preferably in higher education, student affairs, counseling, social work, ethnic studies, or related field
5+ years' of full-time experience. Experience with TRIO or other bridge programs. 1+ years' of experience supervising student employees and other staff
