The Department of Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) in the Bloomberg School of Public Health was one of seven departments set up in the first years of the School in 1916. As a basic science department with nearly 30 active laboratories, MMI has proven its value in the public health realm with its rapid response to the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic.
MMI is a research rich department with a nearly $30M research portfolio and is in the process of rapid growth with the Lyme and Tick Research Institute and Malaria Research Institute as well as the Center of Excellence for Influenza Research, to name a few. MMI is seeking an experienced Sr. Grants & Contracts Analyst (Sr. GCA) with experience in multi-center and complex grant management experience.
The successful candidate will work closely with the finance team and the departmental Sr. Administrator with a dedicated portfolio of faculty to submit and ultimately manage all grants and contracts affiliated with those faculty in a full life-cycle fashion. The Sr. GCA will be expected to multi-task, operate under pressures of timelines, act independently and be responsive to required reporting in a timely and accurate manner. Compliance and knowledge of federal guidelines and regulations is critical. Knowledge of international research practice and policy is preferred.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and submit all grant proposals to JHURA for final submission
Manage related post-award processes, including award setup, review, account setup verification, and ensuring that staff is setup appropriately
Manage all awards post award; provides financial analysis and reports to PI quarterly
Support PI with administrative assistance for all IRB and ACUC protocols
Assist with preparation and submission of all progress reports and FSR's
Assist PI with all MTA, CDA and other such agreements
Work with Sr. Administrator to develop annual projections
Manage related post-award processes, including award setup, review, account setup verification, and ensure that staff is setup appropriately
Assist with infrastructure modeling for complex grant submissions
Work with international sites in terms of compliance, invoicing and Comp and Ben vendor payments
Provide excellent customer service for all faculty
Act as a liaison between the department and other university offices and departments
Remain updated on changes in policy and sponsors' requirements
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Four years of related experience in sponsored research and/or financial positions, preferably in an academic or medical setting
Successful completion of the RAT program (13-15 months) is equivalent to two years of relevant experience for this position. If an employee does not successfully complete the program, no additional experience will be applied.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
