The Office of Inclusive Excellence is seeking candidates for a Director of Intercultural Affairs role.
The Director of Intercultural Affairs is a highly energetic, and visible member of the campus community who will develop, implement, and assess programming and services designed to enhance the recruitment, retention, success, and well-being of underrepresented and historically marginalized students.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Inclusive Excellence, and as a member of the Assistant Vice President's leadership team, the Director of Intercultural Affairs will be charged with providing strategic leadership and direction for student engagement and program development around issues of inclusion, diversity, equity, and belonging for all students enrolled at the college.
In addition, the Director of Intercultural Affairs will be responsible for managing and operating the Intercultural Center, a new 4,200 square foot space scheduled to open in September 2021. The center will provide academic, cultural, and personal support to students - including students of color, first-generation college students, women and gender students, international students, and LGBTQ+ students - through developing intellectual, social, and leadership skills. Further, the staff in the center will work collaboratively with student organizations, faculty, staff and alumni to develop creative programs and projects designed to enhance cross-cultural.
Serve as an advocate for and resource to students from underrepresented and historically marginalized populations. Refer students to appropriate offices and services on campus.
Cultivate strategic partnerships that will lead in the development of programs, services, and strategic initiatives that focus on increasing access, persistence, retention, and success of historically underrepresented students.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Intercultural Center including supervision, of staff and student leaders. Mentor and coach individuals and small group of students.
Coordinate, promote, develop and manage specific programs and initiatives including but not limited to: support of women and gender, LGBTQ+, first generation, and men of color student populations, student recognition and leadership, diversity and inclusion including NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program.
Develop communication and outreach efforts with prospective and enrolled students, and social-identity based alumni affinity groups.
Serve on college-wide committees such as the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT), the Bias Education and Support Team (BEST), and the Campus Safety Working Group that promote the health, safety, and well-being of underrepresented students.
Minimum of three years of relevant, successful, and progressive administrative experience advancing diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in event planning and project management.
Master's degree in Higher Education-Administration, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
Knowledge of best practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Demonstrated commitment to student engagement, retention, and success.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to address and manage conflicts.
