Germanna Community College is seeking a full-time faculty for the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Program at the Locust Grove Campus. This full-time position is designed to teach dental assisting and dental hygiene courses in a co-curricular fashion. Student support and advising, clinical and distant learning coordination, accreditation compliance, and curriculum management are included. Participation with community outreach projects and college civic duty is expected. All teaching positions of Germanna Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually. Teaching faculty must demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education. This is a full-time nine-month full time faculty position. Salary is commensurate with rank and credentials plus State benefits. Appointment date: August 16, 2020. Position will be filled contingent upon available funding. Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene or related health field Applicants should be eligible for licensure in Virginia and completion of the Dental Assisting National Board Examination (DANB) Applicant must have a minimum three years of experience and current knowledge of and skills in application of the Human Needs Theory, instrumentation, pain management, dental materials, oral radiography, pathology, periodontology, oral anatomy, 4-handed dentistry, dental assisting, consumer advocacy, and health promotion Effective interpersonal, communication, organization skills, and must be able to work independently Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication. Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success. Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely. Experience using technology to teach. All faculty are required to successfully complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2
