Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Cultural Anthropology

About the Position:
The department seeks a cultural anthropologist whose area of specialization is the Middle East, whose research addresses migration and refugees in a global context. The position will reside in the Global Affairs Program.
Mason's Global Affairs Program is looking for a candidate who can contribute in teaching, advising, and programming to both the indicated area of specialization as well as the core curriculum in our undergraduate and graduate programs.
The successful candidate will be expected to sustain a robust research program in their area of expertise, produce peer-reviewed publications, seek grant funding, engage in multidisciplinary collaborations, mentor graduate students and honors students at the undergraduate level in the program, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, participate in faculty governance, and participate in professional organizations and societies.
Ph.D. in Anthropology or closely related field;
Must demonstrate potential for excellence in scholarship, and in graduate and undergraduate teaching.
Applicants with active field research on transnational migration and refugees focused on the Middle East;
Ability to teach university core courses in globalization studies (Intro to Global Affairs, Capstone) and teach specialized undergraduate and graduate courses on the Middle East, Refugees, Humanitarianism;
Applicants with experience teaching in an interdisciplinary classroom setting.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
