The Zag Volunteer Program Manager manages the CCE's local service and engagement programs addressing community-identified needs, including such programs as the Zag Volunteer Corps, Gonzaga University Specialized Recreation, and the Logan House. This position supports general student volunteer engagement through partnerships with Residence Life and Gonzaga clubs and organizations. The program manager directly advises 25-30 student leaders who create and coordinate one-time and group service projects for approximately 400 college student volunteers targeting social justice issues and local community needs. This position represents the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) in the community and connects Gonzaga University with the outside community by building partnerships and introducing community members to the university and its service programs.
At least 2 years of professional experience in college student services, higher education administration, education, community engagement, or non-profit/public administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Experience with administering/coordinating programs design.
Experience with and understanding of university systems, practices, and procedures.
High level of cultural fluency including awareness to issues of race, class, and the ethical dilemmas that may arise from the development of strong reciprocal campus and community partnerships.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community leaders.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, skilled at developing and utilizing databases, and proficiency with web-based research.
Availability to work nights and weekends when necessary.
