The Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning will serve as the point of contact for Hopkins at Home programming, with a focus on the livestream lectures. Hopkins at Home brings Hopkins experts and influential community leaders into the homes of our alumni, friends, and community members via one-time livestreamed lectures and academic mini courses. As the primary program administrator for Hopkins at Home, this role is responsible for the multifaceted scheduling and logistics that keep this program running. Established in 2020, this program engages with faculty from across Johns Hopkins and opens the door to inspiring, academic conversation across disciplines. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Associate Director of Lifelong Learning and serves as an integral part of the Office of Alumni Relations team. This position represents the university at various functions to a constituency that includes: alumni, students, parents, prospective students, and friends of the university and has frequent and substantive interactions with faculty and leadership; therefore, must be able to present themselves with professionalism and exercise good judgement, diplomacy, and discretion with diverse populations and situations. The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for innovative problem solving and ability to take initiative; while embracing the opportunities for collaboration. Regular evening and occasional weekend work required. The activities of lifelong learning, including Hopkins at Home, and this position, help to fulfill the priorities, goals and recommendations outlined in the 2020-2025 Alumni Engagement Strategic Plan.
Serve as production manager for live sessions by acclimating presenters to the technology, leading rehearsal, coordinating with technical production staff, and managing the audience Q&A during the event.
Coordinate presenters - which might include university leadership, faculty, non-Hopkins experts, staff, or contractors - to prepare them for their participation in the program.
Manage program registration which includes monitoring and maintaining waitlists for sold out events, extending registration opportunities as the program allows, and sending reminder or post-program correspondence as appropriate.
Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers who support various aspects of the program.
Serve as the Office of Alumni Relations’ liaison to university committees as assigned; this might include serving on task forces, search committees, attending regular meetings, and collaborating on programs and co-sponsorships as appropriate.
Represent Johns Hopkins University through frequent and varied interaction with key alumni leaders, university leadership, donors, faculty, and colleagues across the institution.
Communications and Marketing
Oversee social media channel(s) for Hopkins at Home. In partnership with OAR communications and marketing, develop and execute a social media strategy to increase engagement and promote programs.
Maintain content on the Hopkins at Home website. In partnership with OAR communications and marketing, maintain the Hopkins at Home website to promote upcoming programs and share recordings of past programs.
Execute email marketing strategy that includes a unique Hopkins at Home mailing to external constituents and collaborating with OAR marketing and communication to create and distribute weekly marketing emails.
Create the marketing and registration webpages for each session.
Monitor the Hopkins at Home inbox.
Report on data related to registration, attendance, giving, and course feedback – monthly and quarterly.
Maintain Hopkins at Home participant lists.
Review and report on participant and faculty survey data.
Proficient in basic HTML code, experience with WordPress and video player services such as IBM, Vimeo, YouTube.
Proficient in graphic design to include designing banners for website, social media, and email marketing.
Skilled with the virtual conferencing platforms, especially Zoom, with the ability to troubleshoot.
Experience with Office365.
Experience with an events system both front-facing and back-end editing and formatting.
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years related experience required. Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Additional experience in Alumni Relations, live and virtual event production, or project management preferred.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

oversee the set-up of virtual and in-person events including the management of vendors (when appropriate) and troubleshooting of barriers to success;
collaborate on marketing and promotional pieces to include writing and design of web pages and event invitations;
have an openness and aptitude to learn new software and database programs;
have an enthusiasm for teamwork!
