The Office of External Affairs encompasses three teams: 1) Communications and Marketing; 2) Development and Constituent Relations and 3) Finance and Administration.
The Development & Constituent Relations Team is responsible for raising philanthropic resources and building connections with alumni and unaffiliated individuals, foundations, and corporations to support the School's education, research and public health practice. The Development group includes individual-giving, institutional-relations, stewardship and communications professionals, and it collaborates significantly with the university's centrally based colleagues. The Alumni Relations group uses a robust communications program to promote a diverse set of events and engagement opportunities that seek to promote public-health advocacy and annual fund support.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ PURPOSE STATEMENT
This position will report to the Associate Director of Development, with dotted-line reporting to the Director of the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, at the Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH). The Associate Director is primarily responsible for identifying, qualifying, and engaging leadership annual /major/principal gift prospects and donors in support of the Moore Center (75%) and pipeline development for the School (25%).
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the Director of the Moore Center and the Associate Director of Development in the Office of External Affairs to create a comprehensive fund-raising strategy, and execute that strategy, adjusting tactics as needed. This position will require regular interactions with faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the School, with special attention to unaffiliated prospects with philanthropic interests in child sexual abuse prevention. The candidate must be able to succeed in a dynamic, team-centered, mission-based, and results-driven environment. Travel is associated with this position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a working knowledge of the Moore Center's research, teaching, and funding priorities, and serve as an effective Center ambassador.
Become familiar with the Moore Center's priorities and effectively present the case for support to individuals, and foundation leaders and corporate representatives.
In collaboration with the Associate Director, utilize multiple creative methods to identify and qualify existing constituents and penetrate new markets of currently unaffiliated prospects with potential interest in the Moore Center.
In conjunction with the Moore Center Director and Communications Manager, develop the Moore Center Case for Support and accompanying 'menu' of funding opportunities at various levels, and other materials related to specific fundraising initiatives (annual appeal mailings, online content for appeals, annual report content, grant submission content).
With the Moore Center Communications Manager, assist with special events including the Center's 10-year anniversary, with a focus on communications and public relations strategies.
In coordination with the Associate Director of Development, utilize a variety of sources (foundations, corporations, event participants, volunteers, affinity groups, third-party lists, etc.) to build a prospect pipeline for the Center for qualification, cultivation, and solicitation.
Expand and further develop stewardship and engagement of current donors for the Center to increase sustained giving in collaboration with the Associate Director of Development.
In consultation with the Associate Director of Development, develop and manage a mixed (discovery/qualification through stewardship) portfolio of approximately 50active prospects in first year, building over time to a full portfolio of 120.
Conduct approximately 95 – 110 visits/meaningful contacts each year.
As productivity increases over time, solicit 10 or more gift proposals of $100,000 or more annually within 2-3 years.
For School pipeline development (25%), engage at least 70-100 individual discovery prospects per year. Work with Development Research to qualify major gift prospects and forward leads to the appropriate gift officer.
Manage the day to day aspects of the School's pipeline program, including management of the School's prospect data within the University's database system to ensure integrity.
Participate in individual meetings with the Associate Director of Development and with the development team that include colleagues across the School to discuss development activities, fundraising strategies and workplan progress.
In conjunction with colleagues in the Bloomberg School, in other divisions, and in central development, plan and execute strategies on behalf of the Moore Center.
Regularly use information technology and the University's database system to document progress with donors and prospect management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (mandatory):
Bachelor's degree required.
Three years of related experience, with at least one year of professional experience required. Experience managing relationships with corporations and foundations a plus. This position requires significant travel. Candidates must be able to thrive in an intellectually challenging, fast-paced, and collegial environment. Political savviness, personal integrity, discretion, and pragmatic consensus building skills required. Candidate must be comfortable using telephone, email, and other outreach tools to identify and build a network of referrals with prospective donors. Qualified candidate will be able to work independently or with a team to meet goals. Mature judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information and excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required. Must have a highly professional image with the ability to interact with faculty, staff, donors, and volunteers at all levels. Must have the ability to organize and establish objectives and priorities in a complex organizational environment. This position requires someone with a strong commitment to and passion for the mission of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:Experience using CRM systems preferred.
