The Accountant II will oversee all aspects of financial reporting and financial record-keeping for a collection of five departments within Student Affairs. This role will work closely with five department directors in a financial advisory role to ensure an in-depth understanding of all sources and uses of funds. This role will primarily work closely with department staff members to inform and coach on financial matters. This key role is maintaining overall due diligence and compliance for each of the five relevant departments in term of UTA financial policies and procedures.
Manage financial information and data across five specific departments within Student Affairs. Obtain financial information from UTA accounting system (UT Share) to manage department funds by cost center at the budget and transaction-level detail. Query and ensure funds available for all cost centers. Enter and track Budget transfers. Enter IDT Journal Entries and track from other departments. Ensure sources and uses of funds are correctly captured to enable historical financial analysis. Work closely with department directors and staff to meet their financial information needs by generating timely ad hoc and periodic management reports. Work with ad sales to send invoices, collect payments, and mange collection processes. Input interdepartmental transfers for billing on campus departments for ad sales. Reconcile ad sales on a monthly basis. Run UT Share user-friendly queries for data gathering and analysis. Run numerous UT Share existing queries to understand and track financial and human resource information. Find and add valuable UT Share queries to list of Favorites. Pursue and share new paths to financial data in other applications with cohorts within Division of Student Affairs. Department Financial Statements. Run and reconcile monthly financial statements for Funded, Unfunded Cost Centers and Projects (Grants). Oversee monthly reconciliation of ProCard logs by card holder. Supplier Management and Purchasing Review. Track Purchase Orders by vendor including encumbrances and remaining available funds. Resolve Accounts Payable issues. Pursue and analyze data to recommend vendor changes and pricing improvement based on trend analysis. Track fiscal year end deadlines and available funds utilization limitations.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field. Two (2) years of previous experience working with financial information including annual planning, monthly reporting, account reconciliation and variance analysis or the equivalent experience. Intermediate skills in MS Office 360 with a focus on Excel. Aptitude to learn and master new software as needed for the role.

Knowledge and experience in higher education. Knowledge and experience in preparing ad hoc and periodic management financial reports. Experience working with multiple sources and types of funds with different regulations and project periods. Intermediate UT Share, MS Office 360, and advanced skills in Excel including Filters, Advanced Sorting, Pivot Tables, V-lookup Formula.
