Student Services Assistant
The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution invites qualified candidates to apply for a part-time Student Services Assistant position. This position plays an important role in supporting graduate students. About the Position: The Student Services Assistant position works closely with the Associate Director, Graduate Student Services, as well as the Program Director and Graduate Admissions Coordinator. Occasional evening activities are required in conjunction with the Carter School Admissions Office events and orientation schedules.
Assist students with academic course planning each semester;
Implement communication campaigns including direct emails, newsletters, LinkedIn social media;
Participate in orientation, admissions and career events;
Help students initiate academic actions (e.g., late registration);
Assist with processing of student forms and filing/records;
Create data tracking/reports (e.g. thesis, internship, dissertation defenses);
Timely response to student queries;
Identify and assist academically at-risk students;
Assist in coordinating activities that support and encourage student engagement and success.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
Must have effective communication and organizational skills and experience (or ability to engage) with appropriate technologies;
Ability to build a rapport with students; building trust, flexibility; and an empathetic, non-judgmental and ethical approach;
Must have the ability to work within a team and to take proactive action when needed to support students in the Carter School.
Knowledge of PatriotWeb, Banner and Navigate.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). A flexible schedule can be arranged. Standard business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; may require evening work depending on student services event schedule.
This position is Arlington campus-based, but requires travel to the Fairfax campus for occasional meetings.
Salary: $18.00 per hour
