Franklin Pierce has an immediate opening for a hands-on Purchasing Agent/Buyer to join our busy Purchasing Management team. Reporting to the Director of Purchasing and Campus Services, this position will collaborate with departments of the university and assist with the coordination and streamlining of university purchases, ensuring fair pricing, quality orders, and effective timelines.
The Purchasing Agent/Buyer is expected to work within established university policies and procedures and to assist departments to follow guidelines for an effective purchasing program. The position is also expected to identify opportunities for competitive bidding, soliciting and evaluating bids for competitive pricing, and make recommendations for acceptance of bids. As this position is required to connect with various constituencies both internally and externally, the Purchasing Agent/Buyer must be able to clearly communicate with all constituents.
Experience and Qualifications:
For success in this role:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or another related field.
Must have a minimum of three to four years of experience as a buyer.
Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
Experience with online purchasing software.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Proficient skill level in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as work independently.
Detail skills are imperative.
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and successfully complete a background check.
