The Division of Nephrology in Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is seeking a motivated individual to join the laboratory of Dr. Chirag Parikh. Dr. Parikh’s group focuses on translational research into novel biomarkers of kidney disease.
Developing and validating immunoassays for various blood and urine biomarkers
Performing assay work to meet their protocol requirements and project milestones
Participate in enhancement of biorepository procedures as they pertain to samples stability, improving informatics, workflow and sample security and privacy.
Hire technicians or post doctorate graduates to assist with well-established assays to improve assay throughout
Participate in NIH calls as they relate to biomarker assay quality and biomarker development.
Work closely with the business office of the division of nephrology for budget management as it pertains to supplies, upkeep, and maintenance of equipment required for biomarker assay work.
Responsible for providing appropriate information to the business office for creating invoices on service agreements that relate to sample measurements.
Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
Six (6) years of related experience required.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
