Clinical Director of Operations - Huntington's disease Care, Education, and Research Center (HDCERC)

Requirements

Clinical Director of Operations - Huntington's disease Care, Education, and Research Center (HDCERC)

Huntington's disease Care, Education, and Research Center uses a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of patients and their families. Consistent with Georgetown University Medical Center's devotion to cura personalis, or cure of the whole person, the HDCERC aims towards cura familia or cure of the whole family. Our services and support encompass family members and caregivers.

The Clinical Director of Operations provides direct services to the patients, assists and facilitates in the management of the operational, personnel, and financial activities of Huntington's disease Service Center of Excellence at Georgetown University.

The Director has a central, integral role in the HD Center's mission of Cura Familia - ensuring our patient population receives the best care possible, and provides consultation, leadership and teaching functions for the patients and their families/significant others as well as for the community.

Provide Support/information to HD Patients and Families
  • Serves as first line of contact by phone/email.
  • Screens new patients for clinic, genetic testing program
  • Directs inquiries about care to other clinicians at the HD-CERC.
  • Fields telephone and email requests/questions from non HD clinicians about HD care and research.
  • Employs social work expertise on disability forms, long term care placement.


Manage Multidisciplinary Clinic
  • Schedules new and follow up visits so patients can see multiple clinicians at one visit.
  • Follows up after clinic to ensure care plan implemented.
  • Schedules, plans, and directs multidisciplinary Team Meetings.


Support Research Mission
  • Fields initial requests for information about clinical research.
  • Recruits for clinical/observational studies.
  • Serves as back up coordinator on all ongoing HD studies.


Oversee Catholic Charities and HDYO efforts
  • Facilitates referrals to both programs from the HD Center.
  • Schedules, plans, and directs meetings with the Director and Catholic Charities and HDYO staff.


Supervise students
  • Assists the Director with oversight of medical students, planning so that clinical shadowing experiences are optimal
  • Supervises social work students who rotate through HD-CERC
  • Assists the Director with oversight of Master's and other students who conduct research or clinical shadowing


Qualifications
  • Master's in Social Work
  • At least 5 years' experience with Huntington's Disease
  • Some clinical trials experience/understanding of how to recruit subjects, and ability to backfill study visits
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team management
  • Preference for experience with long term care placement
