Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experiments, specimen preparations and procedures primarily for a COVID-19 research study. Utilizes specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Maintaining a large COVID-19 biobank and LIMS requiring exceptional attention to detail. Involves organizing, barcoding, and retrieving samples in -80o C freezers.
Conducts aseptic technique while handling human specimens. Familiar with working in a Biosafety Level II Lab safety cabinet and pipetting small quantities. Familiar with centrifuging, aliquoting, and ideally, PBMC isolation.
Performs techniques typically required for the laboratory and can work confidently with equipment. Troubleshoots procedures and assists with planning specific research procedures.
Maintains accurate records of results and methodologies into a log of work performed. Compiles and helps analyze data, preparing charts, graphs, and results of studies.
Demonstrates basic laboratory techniques to laboratory assistants and technicians, research fellows, residents and students.
Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
Minimum Education and Experience Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree, AND a minimum of one year of relevant work experience. A Master's degree or additional experience in Molecular Biology, Immunology and/or Genetics laboratory procedures may substitute for some of the experience.

Work requires the analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth, experienced-based knowledge.
Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Blood Borne Pathogen Category Potential Exposure. Job may require performance of tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
