CABM, the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine, invites applications for postdoctoral positions associated with the center.
Postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the lab of Dr. Isaac Edery at Rutgers University to study molecular mechanisms and neural circuits governing the interactions between wake-promoting, sleep-promoting, circadian rhythms, thermal adaptation and metabolic pathways. Mis-regulation in these interacting pathways underlie many human diseases. We use the Drosophila model system and take multifaceted strategies including biochemical, tissue culture, molecular biology, proteomic, genetic, behavioral and evolutionary/genomic approaches.
Experience with Drosophila is a major plus, but preference will also be given to candidates having high expertise in RNA, protein, tissue culture, molecular biology and imaging. New areas of investigation have recently been developed, and a wide range of projects can be tailored to suit individual interests. Ideal candidates are highly motivated, independent and enthusiastic individuals with a strong work ethic who really enjoy the challenge of scientific discovery. Preference will be given to candidates with a recent PhD in a related area, track record of productivity, and who can be interviewed in person. The Edery Lab has a good record of postdoctoral fellows that went on to academic positions. The work is supported by recent R01 (5 years) and R21 (2 years) grants awarded to the PI.
