The University of Maryland, Department of Surgery is seeking a highly qualified Scientist for our Xenotransplantation-Heart Research Program. The successful candidate will be appointed at level of Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The candidate will build the infrastructure needed to develop a world-class xenotransplantation heart
The successful candidate will have a substantial and demonstrated track record in funding and publication productivity, along with the ability to build, sustain, and manage a multi-disciplinary group of surgeons, immunologist, technicians, and veterinarians to accomplish large animal and eventually human xenotransplantation of thoracic organs. This candidate will be required to generate extramural funding and establish independence soon after joining the institution.

This is a full time position that requires an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree and extensive experience in transplantation, xenotransplantation, immunosuppression, tolerance, large animal models of transplantation, cellular and molecular analysis of the immune system, and cardiovascular physiology.
