The Economics Department invites applications for multiple tenure-track appointments at the assistant or associate professor levels beginning August 2021. USNA is a military service academy and top tier undergraduate institution with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in faculty teaching and research. The Economics Department maintains a large, diverse majors program and offers a highly quantitative curriculum. Candidates with a strong interest, demonstrated ability, and commitment to advising and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply and to elaborate on their experience in this regard via an optional diversity statement. Candidates should expect to contribute to teaching microeconomics, macroeconomics, and / or economic statistics and econometrics, as well as upper-level electives in their field of concentration. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, a robust research agenda, and a willingness to engage in service to the institution. Teaching load is typically three classes per semester with small section sizes (10-25 students and 2-3 preps per year).
This is a full-time, 10-month federal excepted service position with a three year initial academic appointment. Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
As the undergraduate college of our country’s naval service, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Naval Academy students are midshipmen on active duty in the U.S. Navy. They attend the Academy for four years, graduating with Bachelor of Science degrees and then commissioning as Ensigns in the Navy or Second Lieutenants in the Marine Corps.The Naval Academy's active duty workforce is supplemented by Department of the Navy civilians who also serve our nation – as professors, coaches, instructors, information technology professionals, finance specialists, administrators, and other support roles typically found at a college or university.
