The University of Maryland, Baltimore, Institute of Human Virology, Division of Epidemiology is currently recruiting for an International Program Director .
15% Travel to sub-Saraha Africa required.

Direct management and support staff, and provide leadership to achieve goals and vision of the multiple Divisions and the day-to-day operations. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff, career coaching, professional development and accountable for the performance of employees.
Working directly with senior leadership, develops and directs the long- and short-term planning to meet business objectives.
Spearheads organizational growth of division through proposal development support. Negotiates subcontract agreement.
Oversee all financial objectives and achievements for the Divisions. Collaborate with senior leadership in defining long-term goals. Prepare division budgets; approves expenditures; analyzes variances; initiates and enforces corrective actions.
Create a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve Divisional goals.
Oversee the recruitment, performance, and training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team. Handle complaints, resolve conflicts, and active in the grievance process.
Coordinates the regular publication of summary reports and serves as an information resource to coworkers, the university, and external figures. Manages communication between leadership in US and program in host country.
Oversee business/administrative operations for the Divisions. Pre and post award management, effort reporting, etc. Develops funding sources for the international program, through grant seeking, major fundraising events and/or donations. Ensure legal compliance for host country, and UMB.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a health related field. Master's Degree is preferred.
Experience: Experience: Six (6) years program coordination with at least two (2) years of experience of overall responsibility for program direction, coordination and implementation. International program experience is preferred.
International research experience is preferred.
Supervisory Experience: Prior supervision of others preferred.
Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
