The University of Maryland, Baltimore has two (2) openings for Infection Control Specialists in the Department of Environmental Health and Safety. The selected candidates will review data to ensure proper health practices on campus. Other responsibilities include contacting and coordinating information for individuals who have been diagnosed with illness and/or individuals who have been in contact with diagnosed individual.
These are temporary, contractual positions.
Systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health data in order to disseminate appropriate health practices. Identifies, investigates, reports, health-care associated infections among patients and personnel through ongoing surveillance.
Conduct contact tracing related to a member of our campus community that has been diagnosed with disease.
Contact identification that confirm as infected with a virus, person will identify contacts by asking and documenting the person's activities and the activities and roles of the people around them since onset of illness.
Contact listing of all persons considered to have contact with the infected person as "contacts". Conduct and oversee efforts to identify every listed contact and to inform them of their contact status, what it means, the actions that will follow, and the importance of receiving early care if they develop symptoms. Coordinate contacts with information about prevention of the disease.
Conduct and coordinate regular follow-ups with all contacts to monitor for symptoms and test for signs of infection.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing or related healthcare field. Experience: One (1) year of Infection Prevention experience required. Certification/Licensure: CIC Certification strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
