Position Summary:

Adjunct faculty in the School of the Sciences will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University and Faculty policies and procedures. Teaching responsibilities will include no more than 9 contact hours per semester (a total of 18 contact hours per academic year) for faculty in the sciences.

Education/Experience:

M.S. degree or higher in a biological or related science plus college level teaching experience in the indicated field with a strong commitment to quality teaching or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

Knowledge of Biological or related science.

Demonstrated teaching ability in Biological or related science.

Ability to instruct students of varying preparation and abilities.

Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation in discipline

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Familiarity with database use

Familiarity with educational assessment practices

Commitment to integrity, excellence, learning, and community.

Experience working with Blackboard or a similar platform.

Excellent organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Essential Functions:

Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 9 contact hours per semester (18 contact hours per academic year).

As part of Instructional Activity load:
- Prepare courses in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines and with direction from the Course Coordinator.,
- Grade all assignments, quizzes, projects, and/or exams as described in the course syllabi,
- Hold office hours (minimum of 3 hours per week),
- Meet with students as related to instructional activity.

Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly.

Participate in the assessment activities of the Department, School, and University.
