The School of Nursing, Research Administration is currently looking for an enthusiastic, professional, and experienced individual in research related to COVID-19 with in the Baltimore City community. This position involves flexibility in working across projects.
The Research Nurse will work in collaboration with the Program Manager and the Principle Investigator of the Johns Hopkins REACH Initiative.
This will include coordinating across projects with the goal of a continually funded position with the REACH program. Below, are three exemplars of the grant funded positions in which the research nurse will be engaged. Each of these are related to COVID-19 activities and have overlapping features.
The nurse will be the lead HPTN 1901 study coordinator for participants recovering from COVID-19. This is a 12-month research study.
The nurse will contribute to a community cohort study for persons at risk for and diagnosed with COVID-19. This is a 12-month research study.
The nurse will coordinate and partner with the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) in assisting with COVID-19 education and training. This is a 12-month educational initiative.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Assists with all needed appointments and diagnostic tests to ensure completion. Perform telephone triage for patients with acute issues. Assist with appointment scheduling and re-scheduling of missed appointments and tests
Consent participants and conduct study visits based on the protocols
Responds to calls from patients and use nursing judgment to assess acuity and provide appropriate next steps
Counsel, support, educate, and coordinate resources needed by patients and their family members from initial diagnosis throughout coordination period
Assist in curriculum and program development for tailored programs including COVID-19 skills building materials and implementation based on needs assessment data; develop training materials for presentations as required
Assist with navigating patients into enrollment into studies
Assist with monthly, annual and semiannual reports
Guide study staff in the day to day operations of the study
Oversight of data collection
Ability to follow SoPs
Participate in, and possibly organize, weekly progress meetings
Develop and maintain manual of procedures for multiple research projects
Willing to travel using ride-share (Uber) personal transportation throughout Baltimore and surrounding counties for trainings
Flexibility to work across other grants and programs as need arises
Any other duties at the discretion of the manager or PI of the project
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required.
Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
Acceptable completion of the JHH or BMC credentialing process is required within two weeks of start date.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must maintain current certification in all applicable JHU required training classes
Must be willing to conduct needs assessments, attend meetings and provide educational programs
Didactic and interactive teaching experience
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills
Must have strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
Must be willing to travel throughout the city and state of Maryland
Computer skills adequate in word, excel, PowerPoint and related software.
Completion of good clinical practice and ethical requirements.
