The successful candidate will provide college-level instruction in biology and agriculture and will be expected to design, annually assess, and update curricula. This candidate, in cooperation with other college personnel, will be responsible for the development and promotion of an increased presence for Southwest Virginia Community College in the field of agriculture. The position reports directly to the Dean of Mathematics, Science and Health Technologies and indirectly to the Vice President of Academic and Student Services. The primary responsibility of a member of the teaching faculty in the Virginia Community College System shall be to provide quality instruction for the students. At SWCC, the major emphasis shall be on excellent teaching by working with students in classrooms and/or laboratories, through individual conferences, various distance education media, and related activities. Our goal is to help students develop their own interests and abilities to the fullest capacity in order to become better persons, better workers, and better citizens. Other duties shared by teaching faculty include participation in reaccreditation efforts, student advising, student activities, sponsorship of student organizations, supervision of work/study students, college service activities, professional development activities, and community service.
